Palestinian girl wounded by Israeli fire at Qalandia checkpoint; weeklong West Bank closure imposed

Place: Qalandia checkpoint, Qalandia, north of Jerusalem Happened: 26 September, evening Israeli forces shot and injured a Palestinian girl at the Qalandia military checkpoint, north of occupied Jerusalem, on Sunday, Wafa reported. Wafa said one Palestinian girl was shot and injured; no age was given. Middle East Eye repeated Wafa's account that the shooting occurred early on Sunday.

Wafa also reported that Israeli officials decided to impose a comprehensive closure on the occupied West Bank and close border crossings beginning on 27 September and remaining in force until 3 October. Wafa said the measures included tighter military restrictions at checkpoints and barriers, road and entrance closures around Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and the closure of entrances to Turmus Ayya, Aboud, Nabi Saleh and Atara. Middle East Monitor cited Wafa and Anadolu in reporting the same closure and said Israeli authorities cited the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
