Government forces repel Houthi infiltration attempts in Al-Maqatirah, Lahj
Place: Al-Maqatirah, Lahj Governorate, Yemen Happened: 22 September
Yemeni government forces repelled Houthi infiltration attempts in the Al-Maqatirah district of Lahj governorate on the night of 22 September, according to statements from the Tor Al-Baha (Tur al-Bahah) military axis. Tor Al-Baha said government forces repelled two separate Houthi infiltration attempts; the Houthis sought to sever the main Taiz–Aden road.
A later statement from the same Tur al-Bahah axis and an additional report said the Taiz–Aden road was disrupted for a few hours but was reopened after government-aligned Tur al-Bahah Axis forces from the 4th Mountain Infantry Brigade repelled a Houthi advance in the Al-Ashbut area of Al-Maqatirah district. Geopolitics Watch said clashes were paired with artillery and that the 4th Mountain Infantry Brigade alongside Yemen Arab Republic (YAF) forces and Saudi-led coalition airstrikes (RSAF) held the attempt back.
Sources give no figures for killed or wounded in the engagement. The location named in the accounts is Al-Ashbut area of Al-Maqatirah district. Photographs were attached to one report; they are included with no caption.
Where accounts differ: Tor Al-Baha described two infiltration attempts and reported the Houthis sought to cut the Taiz–Aden road; the subsequent reports specify the action took place in Al-Ashbut and say the road was disrupted for a few hours and then reopened after the 4th Mountain Infantry Brigade repelled the advance. Geopolitics Watch adds that artillery and coalition airstrikes supported government-aligned forces.
