Explosions heard in Jizan, Saudi Arabia; reports say Border Emergency Forces targeted
What happened Explosions were heard in Jizan (Jazan), southwest Saudi Arabia, on the evening of 22 September. Initial accounts said the explosions could be a mix of interceptions and impacts. Rerum Novarum Intel later reported unconfirmed accounts that several explosions targeted Saudi Arabia’s Border Emergency Forces along the Saudi–Yemen border in the Jizan area. Rerum Novarum noted that many of the deployed personnel there have previously been documented as Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF) members.
Sources and contradictions - A field filing on 23 September said only that explosions were heard in Jizan and that they could be a mix of interceptions and impacts. It gave no information about who or what was targeted. - Rerum Novarum Intel (23 September and repeated 24 September) said, unconfirmed, that several explosions targeted Saudi Arabia’s Border Emergency Forces in the Jizan area and added that those deployed personnel have in the past been documented as Sudanese RSF members. This is a later and more specific account than the initial filing; the two accounts are not directly contradictory but the later account adds a claim about the target and the composition of deployed personnel that the initial filing did not provide.
Casualties No source provided figures for killed or injured in this event.
